Created in 2000 by Sir Malcolm Walker, As Nature Intended means food as it should be – no manufactured herbicides, artificial fertilisers or artificial sweeteners, and a definite no to GM foods and ingredients. With six London shops and an online store, they stock loads of loose fresh produce, free-from and organic items, as well as housing bulk and Ecover refill stations to help us minimise packaging and to offer customers a zero-waste way of shopping.
BYO is a space that offers their local community an alternative way of shopping, with an aim to reduce packaging and food waste in our homes and make zero waste shopping the norm. By asking yourself, "Could I buy this in a more sustainable way?" they hope to encourage you to bring your own containers or purchase their sustainable bottles, jars and bags to refill with whole foods, household detergents and toiletries, all paid for by weight.
Starting from humble beginnings, The Source Bulk Foods was born in Australia in 2012 with the belief that unpackaged food should be easier to access and a smaller carbon footprint could be achieved every time you shop. They arrived to the UK in 2018 with the vision that each one of their stores was both an opportunity and a responsibility. An opportunity to make a positive difference within the local community, and a responsibility to nurture the global community for future generations. They aim to help us rethink the way we shop, and therefore contributing to the sustainability of our environment and supporting organisations, charities and communities that are leading the push for a better, cleaner world.
